New School of Health & Health Technology – Afenifere Leader Lauds FUTA

The Leader of Afenifere who also doubles as the Chairman of the Federal University of Technology Akure Community Partnership, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, has lauded the recent approval given to the institution by the National Universities Commission to commence training of students in its new school of Health and Health Technology.
Chief Fasoranti who also commended the untiring efforts of the Vice Chancellor Professor Adebiyi Daramola spoke in Akure at the inauguration of the implementation committee of the new school which will commence training of students in basic medical sciences in the next academic session.
He said the coming of the new school is a landmark development in the annals of Akure town, Ondo and Nigeria state saying it would further lead to better health care delivery in the country by adding to the quantum of manpower in the sector. Fasoranti said generations to come will celebrate what he described as “this laudable achievement of the Vice-Chancellor and his team”.

Inaugurating the twelve man committee, the Vice-Chancellor advised them to deliver on the mandate given to them. He said they were chosen on merit and since they have the requisite experience to put the School on the right footing he was optimistic that they would chart the right course for the school. Professor Daramola who gave a brief history on how the struggle for the School started about 33 years ago by the founding fathers of FUTA, expressed happiness that the dream has become a reality. He said, “I am blessed and privileged to have men who could fight the cause to a successful end with me” mentioning the likes of the Chairman, and members of the FUTA-Akure Partnership, his predecessors and members of the management in for their support, cooperation and timely advice.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Adedayo Fasakin and a member of the committee, Professor Abiodun Otegbayo from the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan promised to put in their best to make the project a success. The Twelve Man Committee, is saddled with the responsibility of coming up with modalities for the smooth take-off of the approved School, requirements in terms of personnel, building and equipment to achieve a state-of the-art School of Health & Health Technology, among others.
