The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone has said that the action plan and reforms he initiated when he came into office last have yielded positive results to the University.
Celebrating a low-keyed anniversary in the saddle, Esimone said that on assumption of office he unfolded a five key action plan geared towards academic excellence, productive/public community service, administrative reforms, discipline and advancement code-named: ACADA-mission/ Vision strategy Project 200.
He said that his trust of academic excellence is to strengthen research and the teaching and learning process through encouragement of multi-disciplinary approach; repositioning of the University library with e-solution; preference for research translation and commercialization and encouragement of staff to publish in selected high impact journals in various disciplines within the University.
On administrative reforms, Esimone said that in the past year he had undertaken comprehensive landscaping and beautification of the three campuses of the university.
He planned, he said, to urgently give development of the faculty of agriculture at Ifite-Ogwari premises to make it fully operational.
In the beginning, the Vice Chancellor had reconstituted the University’s committees, promoted research and renovation and the university’s industrial relations and raise research consciousness.
Esimone also said that he has worked hard to complete some projects he inherited while starting new ones
